The former President of South Africa Jacob Zuma was today re-elected as her president after the country's fifth consecutive elections. His party the African National Congress (ANC), however but missed a two-thirds majority and saw the main opposition party the Democratic Alliance (DA) gain some ground. The more than 99% of votes counted, shows the ANC had 62.2% (a 3.7-percentage point drop from the last elections), confirming Zuma's second five-year term. The DA grabbed 22.2% of the votes, up from 16.6% in 2009. The DA Presidential candidate has accepted the election results as he publicly hugged and kissed Jacob Zuma. President Goodluck Jonathan has also sent his condolences (congratulations . . . Ojare!) to the country.
