The once bubbly and activist blogger 22 Year Old Karyn Washington allegedly took her own life on April 8th... Karyn wanted to make fellow black women feel pretty and important, which moved her to found the blog “For Brown Girls” when she was just 19! The project got so big that a few celebs and several other black women weighed in to create a social movement for groups of like-minded and similarly complexioned women to get together and talk about the things that make them feel marginalized, and then do something about it.
This lead to the creation of her “Dark Skin, Red Lip” project, which encouraged Black women to rock whatever shade of red lipstick made them feel gorgeous, inspiring them against any prejudice.
Friends claim that Karyn has been suffering from depression since the passing of her mum i 2013... May her soul find peace... Amen.
